Fort William in the West Highlands of Scotland is a magical place standing at the foot of Ben Nevis. Fort William is the end of the West Highland Way walk from Glasgow.

Around Fort William are some of the Highland’s finest natural attractions. Ben Nevis, just to the south of the town and at 4406ft (1,344m) is Britain’s highest mountain. It is a very popular challenge for walkers, but should not be taken lightly, and although the mountain is not massive by international standards, care must taken, the walk starts near sea level.

Climbers should also be prepared for the unpredictable Scottish weather that can quickly turn to sub-arctic temperatures at any time of year. The striking scenery of Aviemore, Cairngorm and Glencoe is nearby; in winter the area opens for skiing, but expect blizzards. The town itself offers a selection of fine hotels and restaurants, and excellent shopping !

Fort William is on the A82, about 100 miles from Glasgow. The route from Glasgow takes you through Glen Coe, a trip you will always remember.

Regular Buses arrive in Fort William from Glasgow in the south and Inverness in the east.
