This is the New Town of Inveraray as the Old Town was the other side of the Bay. The Duke of Argyll decided to build a new Castle and moved the Town to suit him! This was 250 years ago. The Old town was already 300 years old and had no less than 43 Taverns.
The town was moved to landscape the Castle gardens
